WIENER powered NIM, CAMAC and VME / VXI crates as well as low voltage power supplies of the PL500 and MARATON series can be equipped with a CAN-bus interface for remote monitoring and control.
The WIENER crate manager is a program for Windows 98 / Me / NT / 2000 / XP systems to monitor and control a chain of WIENER crates or power supplies via CAN bus. Then Can-bus access is done via the CAN-USB interface using the PCAN light driver.
The software detects automatically all connected crates and power supplies. The status of each is reported in the "Crate status window". Every crate can be controlled by remote (on/off, SYSRES). In case of crate failures error message are generated which are transferred and processed with highest priority.
For each connected crate or power supply all parameters can be shown in the "Individual crate window". To better present the data the display can be defined as crate or power supply mode.
The Windows Crate Manager further provides information about hardware idents and internal software releases.
Within the menu system the CAN-bus interface initialization and the hardware set-up (bit rate, general call ID) is available.
