VME to CAMAC System
VME is the modern, industry conform bus standard (ISO, IEEE) dominating physics experiment control and read-out systems. Using the VMECAMAC system it is possible to link "existing" CAMAC electronics into the VME world. Direct memory mapping guarantees maximum date transfer performance. The WIENER VMECAMAC system consists of the CC32 CAMAC crate controller and the VC32/VMEADA interface card. Both units are connected via a 32-bit parallel cable (SCSI2-type). Despite being a "one-to-one connection" up to 20 CAMAC crates can be controlled from a single VME crates using multiple VC32/VMEADA modules in it.
Performance: Due to the asynchronous nature of the VME bus protocol the maximum data throughput depends on the performance of the used VME master as well of the slave response time. The presented table states typical access times (DS0 to DTACK) achieved by the VMEADA.
- Two unit wide CAMAC crate controller
