Stein am Rhein, Kloten, 28 May 2008.

The Phoenix Mecano Group, a leading technology company in the enclosures and industrial components sectors, will take over the Germany-based Wiener Group with effect from 31 May 2008. The Wiener Group comprises German company Wiener Plein & Baus GmbH and US-based Plein & Baus Ltd.

The Group employs 27 staff and its core business is the development, manufacture and sale of electronic equipment, mainly power supply systems for instruments used in particle accelerators, medical technology, astrophysics and high energy physics, amongst others. Its power supply systems are suitable for 19-inch racks (electronic packaging) and include backplanes and cooling systems. The Wiener Group anticipates consolidated sales of around €6 million in 2008.

The Wiener Group represents a valuable strategic addition to the ELCOM/EMS division’s product range. It offers significant synergy potential with the backplanes and electronic packaging segments of subsidiary Hartmann Elektronik, a manufacturer of multilayer backplanes for electronic equipment. By joining forces with the Wiener Group, Phoenix Mecano will enhance its position as a system supplier for electronic equipment. In addition to synergies in development and production, the use of existing sales channels will result in increased market penetration. Above-industry-average growth can be expected over the next few years.
